Bankruptcy Checklist

When you come to my office for your free initial consultation, you will need to bring the following items:

  1. A current bill or statement for each of your debts (credit cards, car loan, mortgage, medical bills, personal loans, student loans, etc) listing the creditor's name, address, your account number and the amount owing;
  2. Your last two years of federal tax returns (1040 or 1040EZ);
  3. Your pay stubs (payment advices) for the last six months;
  4. Information on any and all 401K's , IRA's or pension plans you are invested in; and
  5. A brief description of any real estate, automobiles or recreation vehicles (trailers, boats, snowmobiles, etc.) recorded or registered in your name.

Having all of the above information available at the first meeting will enable us to understand and discuss the various avenues open to you as a debtor under state and federal laws.

If, after a thorough review of your financial situation and a discussion of your options, bankruptcy is the chosen path, we will meet a number of times to complete and review the bankruptcy petition.  You, the client, are an important partner in obtaining the best results with this filing.
